1 Nephi 14 In his vision, Nephi sees "the blessings promised to the Gentiles who remain faithful, the cursing that will come to the Gentiles who do not remain faithful 1 Nephi 14:1–7, and the ultimate victory of the Church of the Lamb of God over the great and abominable church."
It will be a great day indeed to be "numbered among the house of Israel; and they shall be a blessed people upon the promised land forever; they shall be no more brought down into captivity; and the house of Israel shall no more be confounded." To receive the blessings, we must our soften our hearts toward Jesus: seek Him in the scriptures and in prayer, ponder and apply His word, faithfully keep His commandments and witness His truth. There only two forces in the world today, those with Jesus and those against Him 1 Nephi 14:10; 10:16. Eventually, the great and abominable church will fall by the hand of God 1 Nephi 14:3–4, 15–17; 22:23. Even though the adversary has great power, the power of God is greater. In the last days, God's stalwart few will overcome the persecution of the great and abominable church. The pit dug by those of the great and abominable church to trap the children of God, the fear, the force, will be filled by the diggers. The Saints of God are “armed with righteousness and with the power of God” 1 Nephi 14:14.
This arming to overcome the adversary is not something that happens by magic like a wand that endows someone with all their hearts desires in the twinkling of an eye. No, it is the armor of God, which He allows us to put on piece by piece. Through our diligence and faith, we learn His word, gain a relationship with Him, and grow in knowledge and wisdom thus allowing God to allow us to put on His whole armor.
"Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Ephesians 6:11
"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." Romans 13:12
Nephi’s revelatory vision teaches us about many things that have taken place and many still to occur in the history of the earth. It is a wake up call to all who read it. There is no middle ground either we are with Jesus Christ or working against Him as followers of the adversary. ALL those who choose to follow Jesus Christ will receive the blessings promised in 1 Nephi 14.
"I am sure that this revelation (speaking of 1 Nephi 14), brothers and sisters, pertains to this day and to this time. While our attention is attracted to foreign countries where there have been wars and where there are still wars, there are within the very borders of this great republic those who would change our form of government and who would force upon us the same type of government that Lucifer advocated in the councils of heaven." Joseph L. Worthlin, Conference Report, October 1946, pp. 29-35
"What are we to fear when the Lord is with us? Can we not take the Lord at his word and exercise a particle of faith in him? Our assignment is affirmative: to forsake the things of the world as ends in themselves; to leave off idolatry and press forward in faith; to carry the gospel to our enemies, that they might no longer be our enemies. " Spencer W. Kimball, Ensign, 6/76
