nothing new under the sun

But behold, we are not witnesses alone in these things; for God also spake them unto prophets of old." Jacob 4:13

"And truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come" Doctrine & Covenants 93:24

Recently, I've heard talk that the Church ought not require abstinance before marriage, ought to lighten up on the Word of Wisdom, or ought not "charge" 10% tithing. The hard economic times and changing morality of the United States are the reasons they sight. People who hold these views do not understand the nature of God' s divine truth--it is everlasting. It is not the Church that requires these things; it's God. These are His commandments.

Additionally these people also do not understand that the whisperings of Satan that they loudly proclaim are as old as the hills. Read the Old Testament for understanding that Satan has always tempted man to shack up or sleep around, get drunk and be lazy, and rob God with selfish desires. There is nothing new under the sun.
