Who Knew? It's All The Rage.....

I've started drinking green smoothies. When a blogging buddy of mine suggested them, I nearly gagged. The other day at a relative's home I saw a book laying around. Of course I picked it up and began to read. I'm not a professional bibliophile for nothing. Anyway, the book, Green for Life, is about becoming a raw food vegetarian. I am not interested in that. However, only a couple chapters into the book, the author begins to talk about getting more veggies in with green smoothies.

Since we are all suffering with sluggish health, we s=decided to give it a try--once. Well, they aren't too bad. Actually, they are kind of good, not great, but good.

My blogging buddy suggested including frozen berries, but Spencer said it looked like something that belonged in the toilet. We only did the frozen berry thing once. This is what we came up with.

1 banana
1/2 mango
1 orange
1 lb. spinach, parsley, chard, or a mixture
water

Blend until no longer chunky. Drink up.

After 12 days of this, I'm starting to crave them. We're up to a quart a day each. I want to get up to 2 quarts by next week, where I think I'll stay. That's all my budget can handle.

I also found the most wonderful gardening site, gardengirltv.com. She has oodles of videos about urban sustainable living, which involves the use of raised bed gardens, chicken/rabbit tractors, fruit trees, and more. My mind is churning 100 miles an hour with all my plans.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
