I want to hold a family reunion for my children and grandchildren. The cousins really ought to know each other. Some of them do see each other, but others are too far away. We haven't all been together since Lori's wedding reception. We all visited, but you know how receptions are. I don't think Lori noticed anyone but Micah, which is to be expected.
My original idea of renting a beach house in San Diego is just too expensive. I hate to camp now that I'm old--too much pain. So my current idea is a lodge or cabins somewhere in the mountains. But I can't seem to find anything. I need help.
Does anyone know of a place that's great for family reunions with real beds that doesn't cost a fortune that is in Utah, Idaho, or California in the mountains or on a lake? Right now is the perfect time to make plans but I'm out of ideas.
Help!
Ginger, For girls camp this year we stayed at a place on the other side of Zions. They had cabins, but the showers and bathrooms were separate. It was clean and very nice. I'll try and remember the name and call you. Another idea is a "cousin camp." A friend of mine does this every year. The grand kids go to grandma's for the week, and the adults have the week off, but are asked to come a teach a class or two. It is like EFY, and it is spiritual in nature. The kids do devotional, have lessons about the Gospel, have outside speakers (firemen, etc.) come in and give lessons. They also do fun stuff like water fights, games, etc. and its one big sleep over. I talked to my MIL about doing something like it. I hope she does.
ReplyDeleteWe did Aspen Grove Family Camp one year, but I am thinking that was probably really expensive...
ReplyDeleteHere in North Carolina, some of the state parks have camp sites with cabins and mess halls for really cheap in the off season (non-summer). Our homeschool co-op does this for a night, and it is really fun. You do have to plan ahead to get a reservation. Maybe there are other things like that there?
Oh, I know. Again, I do not know the cost, but we stayed at Camelot down near Dushcene, UT and it was beautiful.

My grandparents were celebrating their 80th b-days, and 60th wedding anniversary.
I think my MIL was talking about some dude ranch in Utah at some point in time, but I do not know what it was.
