Outlook...anticipating home...I love the pace of a smallish town.
On My Mind...repentance and forgiveness...finished the first section of Master Herbalist. Whoo Hoo Gingie!! Now I'm into the hard part. I had these visions of finishing by June or so. Ha! The class I'm taking now requires studying an 800 page book and memorizing 100 herbs by site, with Latin name, common name usage, and part used. YIKES!
Delish Kitch...poached pears for Sweet Monday...wash enough pears (I like the red ones for this) for each person to have one. In the bottom of a steamer, place 1 t. ginger and a cup or two of water. Steam pears for about 30 min. or until soft but not mushy. Meanwhile, in a small sauce pan, gently warm 4-5 strained raspberries, 1 t. honey, and 1/8 t. dried ginger or 1/2 t. fresh ginger per pear. Serve pears in dessert cups with red ginger-honey poured over top with a dusting of nutmeg or cinnamon.
For dinner last night, I made terriaki stir-fry. We use mainly asparagus and onions then add whatever needs to be used up in the fridge to make from 1-2 cups veggies per person. Slowly caramelize the onions over very low heat in 1 t. olive oil to give it wonderful, rich flavor. This takes about 10-15 min. Throw in the bite-sized chopped-up asparagus, 2 pressed garlic cloves, and other veggies. Stir fry until warmed through, about 3-4 min. Season with 1 t. raw honey, 2 t. braggs liquid aminos, 1 T. water, couple shakes of red pepper flakes, and a sprinkle of raw, sprouted sesame seeds. Serve this over low-heated, sprouted brown rice with a nice big green salad on the side. Tofu is good in this, if you are not trying to loose weight. A bit of grilled salmon is good as well.
I learned to low-heat grains--they are still raw. Beleive it or not, low-heated, sprouted grains will continue to grow in the fridge. If you plant them they will grow into plants. They still have their life force inside.
Homemaking...pack and clean
Praying for...leader of nations...children of God...searching souls...misguided youth...
Appearance...navy, floral, ankle-length linen/rayon dress with short sleeves (it's sort of like a regency dress-thrifted for $4) and black birkies. I've finally figured out what to do with my hair. I wash it at night 3 X per week and curl it after I exercise each day. It still goes mostly straight now, but it's either long, slightly curled hair or shorter hair. I'll go with long.
Movement...I'm loving walking in the sun and The Firm. Walking in the rain is OK, too.
Bibliophile Fix…I'd like to read another Gene Stratton Porter novel if I have time this week.
Scripture Meditations..."And he fell upon his brother Benjamin’s neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck. Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him" Genesis 45:14-15 Joseph was a Christ figure. Even though his brothers were not worthy of forgiveness, he completely forgave them and shared all he had with them. This is what I believe Jesus will do for me. I am not worthy to loosen the buckle on his sandel, but he will fall on my neck, weep over me, and talk with me. He loves me and accepts all my awkward attempts to repent.
My week is looking...action packed...work...cleaning...packing...shopping...studying...exercising...visitingGod has been teaching me..."O that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish. But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God." 2 Nephi 9:28-29 The past couple weeks, I've put God's word aside, because I'm so wrapped up in my herbal studies. Not good...I know that if I don't spend my first hour of the day every day with God, I am sunk. Why did I let this happen again! I'm so grateful for repentance. How long will He accept my repentance? 7X7,000,000,000?
Simple Pleasure...gentle spring rain on the window pane.
Commitment to Loveliness...1) finish spring cleaning this house 2) clean my car 3) aloha in myheart and on my face 4) plant a pink primrose for the land lady 5) sing in the rain
Poetry I'm Enjoying...
ROSES
You love the roses - so do I. I wish
They sky would rain down roses, as they rain
From off the shaken bush. Why will it not?
Then all the valley would be pink and white
And soft to tread on. They would fall as light
As feathers, smelling sweet; and it would be
Like sleeping and like waking, all at once!
George Eliot 1819-1880

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
