Moses' main message in Deut. 6:10-12 and 8: 1-20 are to remember the Lord God. We forget Him, "...in not keeping His commandments, and His judgements , and His statutes..." Deut. 8:11
Like every choice we make, there are consequences if we choose to forget Him. "...if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, ans serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish." Deut. 8:19
So how do we make sure that we do not forget the Lord God? The usual answers are the key. We must strive to keep Him in the forefront our lives with daily scripture study and prayer; we must worship Him; we must not put other things before Him. We must recognize the false gods of our day and refuse to bow down to them.
In Deut. 6:10-12 Moses give us a few hints about false gods in our day. He warns of "things" and being well fed. Does that sound like most of the people you know? Deut. 8:10-20 Gives us even more clues along the same line.
"The worst fear that I have about members of this church is that they will get rich in this country, forget God and His people, wax fat, and kick themselves out of the church and go to hell. This people will stand mobbing, robbing, poverty, and all manner of persecution, and be true. But my greatest fear for them is that they cannot stand wealth; and yet they have to be tried with riches..." Brigham Young
"But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that give thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day." Deut. 8:18
God is the source of our riches. If this is so, why does He bless us? Is it that we may build up His kingdom on earth, clothe the naked, feed the poor, minister to the sick and afflicted, and liberate the unjustly captive? I believe so. We are not to hoard wealth and worship our things. We have been so blessed in the West so that we might do well for the least of our sisters and brethren. In doing this, we neither forget God or forget His commands.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
