Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

loving life-journal #37 8/1/2010

On my mind
thunder, lightening, rain,  loving life, and running through storms

Celebrate
#1 son is 24 today...happy birthday Jason

Keeping a Home

Pantry Principle area5...in the village herbalist course from herbmentor, I learned to make some fabulous herbal based cleaners that smell heavenly and do a lovely job of cleaning...

Deliciousness
Bare Naked Burrito...which is not a burrito at all. This salad inspiration came from a little restaurant near our office in Seattle. Instead of wrapping our burrito fixings in a tortilla, we put the beans and pico de gallo on a bed of romaine and cilantro. Garnished with lime and avocado, it's  has an attractive presentation as well. My Pico is very original with tomatoes, anaheim and serrano chilies, radishes, red bell peppers, avocado, and zucchini. Mmmmmmm...
Toward Real Education
Didn't get much done with the sorta-surprise visit from my mother...still loving my studies...try to learn something new every day

Toward Rhythm and Beauty
more and more of the house is falling back under the spell of area maintenance...it feels nice.

Bee News
a bit more quiet this week with all the thunder storms...but any chance they get they work, work, work...

Garden Gate
Two tomato bushes were removed with blight....I hope we found it early enough to save the others.

Micro Eco-Farming: Prospering from Backyard to Small Acreage in Partnership with the EarthMicro Eco-Farming: Prospering from Backyard to Small Acreage in Partnership with the Earth by Barbara Berst Adams

This was a strange book. Mostly it was a review of lots of little operations. I thought it would be more of a hands-on type thing.

Designing the New Kitchen Garden: An American Potager HandbookDesigning the New Kitchen Garden: An American Potager Handbook by Jennifer Bartley

This is fantastic for those wanting help in designing a lovely space. I'm all for the no grass/ yes path type of garden. Since we eat maily veggies and fruits the ideas for transforming an empty space into a useful, beautiful garden is very appealing.

Appearance
navy suit,  white v-neck T, black ballerina flats, same wavy hair and minimal jewelry

Scripture Meditations
I'm working on an integrated science/history curriculum that begins with the Creation. Genesis 1 has been in my thoughts consistently for several weeks.

Praying For
This week our grandone of the week is Gracie, our youngest grand daughter.  She's full of action and one I hope to get to know better soon.  I pray for her sweet little spirit that she will be safe, happy, and healthy. I pray that her parents will take care in raising her--they are very sweet with her. I pray that the world will be a safe place for her and the people she meets in this world will be good and kind. I pray that children all over the world will be as loved and blessed as she.

What's Coming
I love my work...more science...more history...more writing lessons...more of what I love.

Simple Pleasure
...daily thunderstorms...

Commitment to Loveliness
All my projects were on hold, while Mom visited. It was a wonderful visit and so worth putting off sewing and clearing out the storage room. So I'll be back at that this week except for the chicken scratch, which I cannot see.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
