"Beam-ectomy should precede all mote micro-surgery. Just saying." Ginger Conrad paraphrasing Jesus Christ.

Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

here comes the sun-journal # 56...12/12/2010

On My Mind...Thomas Edison said, "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease."
I've seen enough diet-inflicted pain and suffering over the last month to convince me to never put poisonous substances in my mouth again, ever. Pastries, animal products, salty snacks, and goodies of all kinds hold no sway for me anymore. I know once the momentary enjoyment of taste is over, damage kicks in. The new laws forcing everyone to accept substandard medical care are criminal, when nutritional medicine has been shown to be far superior in reversing degenerative and 'hereditary' illnesses. I'm glad I didn't go to medical school as a young adult but am studying now to be the kind of doctor Thomas Edison spoke of, a doctor of the future. When disease isn't caused by lack of hygiene, it is caused from addictions to devalued, psuedo-foods and human refusal to give up dainties and sweeties. The tongue is a small member of the body, but can destroy health and reputation in no time. Taming the tongue's power, we can take charge of our health and create a non-disease state in the body.

Celebration....Spencer is loving his mission.

Praying For...Those that serve the cause of the Prince of Peace all over the world. The leaders of nations that their hearts will be softened and will desire to do right. Darling Oakley ...a lovely, joyful little gal. She has turned into such a brilliant bright girl. I pray for her protection, safety, joy, and health and the same for all children of the earth. Praying for peace. Praying for our missionary. Praying for the end of health ruining propaganda in this country.

Homemaking...shopping for beautiful and colorful produce.

Commitment to Health...Deliciousness...I made a delicious pot of navy bean soup. It's so easy that I wish everyone would try making beans at home. Beans taste so different than anything out of a can. First I soak a lb. of beans (any variety) for 24-48 hours in distilled water. Drain and rinse. Then I put the beans in a pot with water to cover, 1 chopped onion, 3-4 chopped carrots, 3-4 chopped celery stalks with leaves, and a shake of red pepper flakes. This I simmer on the stove top for 6-8 hours or put in a crock pot on low or put in the solar oven  for the same amount of time. When they are very soft, I add a handful of chopped herbs such as thyme (only a tiny bit), parsley, and rosemary (again only a bit.) I don't salt my soups, because salt deadens taste buds and increases risk of death whether one has high blood pressure or not (hemorrhagic stroke, kidney stones and failure, increase left cardiac ventricular mass, cardiac and ventricular fibrosis, vascular inflammation, gastric cancer, and osteoporosis. Sodium is present in most vegetable foods, making a lack of this important nutrient impossible on a nutritarian diet. To a meal of bean soup, I like to add a large green salad. We've found that spinach makes the most mildly delicious salad imaginable. In addition to a bed of spinach (or romaine or field greens or leaf lettuce), we create a beautiful presentation with shredded raw beets, carrots, and banana squash, green and purple cabbage, cucumbers, celery, red and green peppers, tomatoes, maybe berries or raisins, sunflower seeds, and strangely enough hummus. Hummus can be a high fat dip, but I make it with no olive oil and only a small amount of whole sesame seeds instead of tahini. With lemon, dill, parsley, chives, and cayenne, it is as creamy and tasty as any ranch dressing without the damaging animal products. Delicious!

Appearance...blue a-line, blue and white striped blouse, black cardigan, black birkie mary janes

Scripture Meditations..." Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth." 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a

Towards a Real Education...I finished all assignments for two levels of Master Herbalist this week. Trying to get a hold of a copy of The Good Life: Helen and Scott Nearing's Sixty Years of Self-Sufficient Living recommended by Dr. Fuhrman in his lecture on saving money on food bills by growing your own fruits and vegetables. I've been reading more of of John Jeavons gardening research papers. I'm very excited by this idea to grow your soil instead of growing your diet. In reality the things we grow for the compost bin have food value as well, grain produces carbon material and other nutrients in the straw, beans produce nitrogen and other things, comfrey and alfalfa are a gold mine of compost soil possibility, and so on.

What's Coming...I get to visit with my mother and father on Monday and my cousin Linda Tues or Wed.

Simple Pleasure...still sitting in the warm sun...walking with no slippery ice on the ground

Commitment to Loveliness...I'm wearing my hair differently...many people have urged me to cut it...why do they feel justified in this rudeness...anyway my hubby loves the new style

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
