Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

lots of joy...journal #10-March 21-27, 2011

On My Mind...homemaking is my main priority...doing a pretty good job keeping it up with my new full time + venture...

Celebration...love that I can work from home...glad my children seem so happy at present.

Prayers...Claire, 2nd daughter and 3rd child of daughter #1-grandchild #7, a beautiful 2-year-old...Spencer my darling baby, who has grown into a wonderful man...praying for their peace, happiness, health, and safety...praying that God reveals His love in amazing ways to them...praying for all children around the world to have happy families and peace, plenty, and safety in their homes...praying for displaced peoples...

Scripture Meditations..."For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace." 1 Corinthians 14:33 Routine and order bring me peace for sure. Why is it that God gives strange commands? I believe it is because He knows the nature of His children so well, He just tells us to do the things that will make us happy.

Deliciousness...made spaghetti squash with mushroom marinara...mmm...and banana ice cream-nobody would guess that this creamy desert has only 120 calories per serving...perfecting my hummus recipe...just can't see spending $4 for a tiny bit of the delicious, nutritious, low-calorie delight, when I can make it without weird chemicals and  unnecessary fat for about 25 cents.  It is so good for dipping carrots and peppers. Discovered dulse this week, a seaweed that tastes great on beans.

Movement...finally ordered T-Tapp complete and will begin as soon as it arrives...my failed William Waterhouse dress makes a fantastic workout dress, keeping me modest in every instance.

Thimble News...working on a black linen suit with this Lisette jacket and my old standby A-line skirt. Liesel Gibson is my favorite pattern designer. I would love to sew more for my granddaughters with her children's patterns, but alas, my girls don't like my taste. So I sew for myself and Christmas gifts...having a hard time deciding on Christmas gifts for this year. Dolls are out, because they take more time than I have. I would really like to get Liesel's new book, oliver+s little things to sew, and make some fun things for the grandchildren. Maybe someone that really loves me will send it to me as a surprise! I can always hope. If we end up having a Christmas party this year,  I'm for sure going to make them all flannel pillow cases in fun prints with new pillows inside. Little children love unwrapping huge boxes. Leaning towards aprons for my daughters and de-stressing pillows for the men---since my mother and step-mother read this blog occasionally, I can't disclose my plans for the parents. Honey will be part of the picture for everyone of course...but all this will probably be on hold until after the 1st of April with my bid deadline looming.

Commitment to Loveliness...on the only non-snowy day this week, I cleaned out the front flower beds with my new Clarington spade and fork. Having the right tools makes all the difference. It was a great experience and everything looks so nice. If the weather cooperates, my days will include a bit of double digging to clear my head and exercise my body.

Toward a Real Education...my deadline is looming closer and closer...even though I'm not studying in my traditional way right now, I'm learning so much writing my science books and preparing lesson plans. I hope I can get it all done by my April 1 deadline. Yikes! It seemed so far away, when I chose the date. Some families have signed up to begin on that date, so I absolutely have to have everything in place. Seems late nights are in store for me this week....also I'm participating in  Society Sunday blog hop and reading Women of Mormondom.

Sound of Music...really glad I added hymn studies with violin, piano, and singing to my morning devotionals. Every time my timer goes off, I just can't believe I have been at it for an hour. Music takes me to another, very good place. After my dead line is passed and the pressure is off, I'm going to make my devotional hour in to a devotional 1.5 hours. Still want to get the guitar out again.

Natural World...clouds have obscured the skies for several days, kiboshing my moon study this month. But this morning on my pre-dawn walk, I could see the beautiful moon in it's last quarter clearly. It is such a cheery sight.

Garden Gate...with so little light, my tomato and pepper seeds did not sprout. Hopefully, they will soon be up.

Bee Buzz...activity is picking up between the odd snow storms...confirmed that hive 1 perished in the winter; what a pity...gave 2 quarts of our finest to the Hollingsheads last weekend...of all the people that eat our honey, they are the most enthusiastic and grateful recipients...

Cottage Dispensary...need to make up some more FOY capsules for Joseph...he loves the focus they afford him during Tax time overload...

Simple Pleasure...since I moved my desk further into the corner, I don't feel like I'm on display in the front window anymore but can still see out...I love all the people watching and nature studies from my little perch. We are halfway between the university and high school and a half block from the elementary school on a street filled with elderly people; I watch elementary children, college professors, high school students, university students, and old people in all the attitudes of each stage of life. This reminds me of a fun memory. When we were dating, Joseph and I used to go to the mall, buy giant pretzels, and people watch. Strange date but we are strange characters. I don't know; people watching sort of makes me understand God's love for all mankind.

What's Coming...just my deadline...and lots of joy

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
