Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

forever grateful...journal April 11-17, 2011

On My Mind...tax season is over!!!!! I'm a widow no longer...

Celebration...Helaman is a great worker and does a great job in my garden...Pat Dowse is a wonderful handyman...

Prayers...Gayle, first child and only daughter of daughter #2...Liz, daughter #2...I pray that these two girls who are so much alike can be the best of friends besides mother and daughter...I pray that they come to know Jesus intimately and not just as some ethereal icon...mothers and daughters all over the world that they are happy, safe, and have the necessities of life...

Scripture Meditations..."Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gate." Proverbs 31:31 I love this whole chapter of Proverbs, which is sort of like an owner's manual for women.

Deliciousness... Chana Masala Baingan Bharta, a flavorful Indian Eggplant Stew, was dinner last night with black rice and Mandarin oranges....who knew this whole world of low calorie, low fat, high nutrient deliciousness existed...God gave us tongues to enjoy our food, and I do enjoy vegan nutritarian fare...He also made our bodies to eat only when hungry...if we eat as He taught in Daniel and Doctrine and Covenants 89...don't forget to poke holes in your eggplant before you bake it or you will have the hilarious but potentially dangerous situation that I did~exploding eggplant!

Movement...Tapping, walking the dog, and digging in the garden...

Thimble News...lazy girl didn't even pick the machine up until yesterday...

Commitment to Modesty...navy corduroy skirt, black T, and robin's egg blue cardigan with leggings and mary janes

Commitment to Loveliness...washed the windows in the entire house...well, I hired someone to do it anyway...got a new front porch light installed that sparkles like crazy...

Toward a Real Education...I love to study and have found a delightful book on writing, The Lively Art of Writing...I am deeply humbled to see how hard my scholars work. The latest batch have been with me for about a year. Some of them have gone from a scanty but knowledge of grammar, history, writing, and so on to amazing levels of progress...writing school books has to be the very best way to get a deep knowledge of a subject...

Sound of Music...studying Corelli and Vivaldi...fascinating the first time around...absolutely absorbing this time...still practicing violin, piano, guitar, and voice badly but most enjoyably...

Natural World...moved some rouge strawberries the other day...I'm committing to myself to draw in my nature diary every day...

Garden Gate...the back forty (feet--well it's only 20)  is finally cleared and dug. I need to mark the raised beds and dig out the irrigation ditches around them. I would really like to discontinue using the public irrigation, because it brings so many weeds. If I can swing it, I want to install automatic drip irrigation in the beds this year.

Bee Buzz...hive one came back to life this week...at first I thought a swarm inhabited it but now realize it is too early for swarming...I just don't know but am forever grateful for the blessing...

Simple Pleasure...75F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
