Acts 15:1–35
Paul and Barnabas traveled back to Jerusalem to consult with the other brethren about circumcision, which is symbolic of the entire law of Moses. Even though Jesus Christ had fulfilled the law of Moses including circumcision, some Jewish Christians still practiced it and wanted Gentile converts to practice it as well. After much consideration and prayer, the Apostles were inspiration not to require circumcision.
Sometimes traditions are hard to give up. For instance, the traditions in some families to eat to a glutinous state in the name of celebration is hard for many to discontinue. Some indulge in these celebrations daily. Interestingly, many in the US still circumcise their newborn boys a totally unnecessary, painful procedure from tradition. The tradition to use violence in the name of child training is another barbaric tradition that many cling to and use to justify abusive behavior. The rod refers to a shepherd's crook, which a shepherd uses to guide his sheep. He doesn't hit them with it. It also refers to the scriptures, the stick of Joseph and the stick of Judah. What traditions of false ideas do I cling to that keep me from experiencing the whole of Jesus' delightful plan?

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
