"Beam-ectomy should precede all mote micro-surgery. Just saying." Ginger Conrad paraphrasing Jesus Christ.

Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

unique challenges

On the Cliffs
by Arthur Hopkins 1848-1930

On My Mind...how will surgery and a 94-year-old woman mix...

Celebration...the ability to visit family especially at a time like this...

Scripture Meditations..."My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise." Psalm 57:7

Praying For...all my sweet grands that they will be happy and loving...Oakley and Kelsey, that they will know that Jesus loves them, that I love them, and that they will find safety and peace...leaders of nations will choose the right and care more for their constituents than their own greed...the poor will be fed, clothed, sheltered, loved, and safe...missionaries and servants of God that they will have safety and find souls with softened hearts ready to listen to the gospel...

Commitment to Deliciousness...this week was a pretty routine week with lots of smoothies, lentil soup, and giant salads. My favorite dinner was a mega-huge sunflower green, cucumber, and romaine salad with Sesame Miso Dressing and sunflower seeds. Dressing is delicious but never turns out the same each time 2T. apple cider vinegar, 2-3T. water or orange juice or an orange, 1 t. honey, 1T. sesame seeds, 1 T. flax seeds, 1-2 t. light or red miso, a few drops toasted sesame oil all whirred together in a magic bullet.

Commitment to Loveliness...got to Peoria yesterday afternoon only to find the guest room and garage covered in mold from a broken water heater. This is a good thing. The walls and carpet are being replaced. With the workers right here, we asked if they could fix the crack in the front room wall and the broken toilets. It will all be done by the end of the week. It also means we can take the carpet out of the guest bath and put in tile. Carpet in a bathroom is disgusting.

Commitment to Movement...walking and loving it...

Commitment to Modesty...I love Phoenix heat, but it provides unique challenges. Growing up here, I never saw people nearly undressed and those were the days before air conditioning was used widely. It is possible to cover up, look lovely, and keep cool. Loose flowing cotton skirts and blouses like the painting above are the answer.

Thimble News...with the above in mind, I'm thinking of making New Look #6352 in a pastel color. Unfortunately, white brings out my lovely jaundice coloring...

Towards a Real Education...writing is a wonderful, educational pastime for me. I'm getting more efficient with research and all that, which is bringing my stress level way down.  I found a new book to continue my education in the healing arts focus on healing foods: Foods That Heal. Since I just got it yesterday, I've not read much of it. However, I have learned that grapefruit is good for jaundice and pineapple strengthens the adrenals.

Sound of Music...I couldn't take the lack of music anymore, so started playing my old friend with the broken face. This lovely instrument still sings beautifully even with my clumsy playing.

Garden Gate...Spencer will keep the squares watered, while I'm gone. Of course we stopped planting new micro-green trays and ate up everything a couple days ago. Luckily, it only takes 7 days to get things back into production again.

Bee Buzz...happy and humming...

The Dispensary...drinking a pineapple, banana, orange, and kale smoothies and eating grapefruit for breakfast this week. Maybe that combined with lots of time in the sun will find me without my saffron glow by this time next week...

Simple Pleasure...visiting with family that genuinely enjoy our company...

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
