I felt pretty strange last week, when most of the food I prepared was left uneaten at my party. I thought I was on the wrong track and needed to look for more recipes and such. Yesterday, I listened to Dr. Christopher's Herbal Lectures again on the way home from PHX. Peace filled my soul as I remembered the direction I received concerning my diet. I can't choose for others, but I can prepare and eat delicious living foods for me and my house. I also realized I have been slipping somewhat.
Dr. Christopher teaches the Word of Wisdom or what he calls the Mucusless Diet: vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, and seeds. The point is not to add mucus into the body faster than it can be eliminated. With this preventative and healing diet, constipating mucus in the tissues of the body is stopped from forming or eliminated from the head to toe.
So many delicious things are included in this program: all fresh juices including grape, apple, and carrot, green drinks (smoothies), salad of all types and combinations, low heated vegetables (dehydrator or crock pot with dimmer), soups and casseroles made from long soaked and low heated(under 130F-crock pot with dimmer), grains, lentils, and beans, snacks and desserts of fresh fruit and soaked nuts and seeds, raw honey, herbs, seasonings. This is basically raw food prepared differently than today's raw food movement which uses altogether too many nuts and seeds to imitate an unhealthy diet. Grains and beans prepared this way will still grow when planted in the garden. This means they are still alive with all the wholesome enzymes and nutrition inside. Dead food kills. Live food give life.
As you guessed, many things are eliminated or used only in times of famine or emergency. The elimination of SALT may sound difficult, but substituting coarsely ground pepper, savory herbs, powdered kelp or dulse, sesame seeds, and cayenne pepper, I found no need for salt after a few days. All these salt substitutes are nutritious and build the body when used unheated. Eggs were sort of hard to eliminate, because I've kept chickens in my backyard for years. Funny, though, as a child I hated eggs. Also interesting was the allergy to eggs I discovered. I'm fine not keeping chickens anymore and eliminating this allergy. Sugar and artificial sweetners except honey are not allowed. Meat of all types should not be eaten unless during times of famine or emergency. All dairy products are extremely mucus forming and constipating to the entire body. All flour and flour products whether freshly ground from the whole grain or refined, become mucus forming when heated at high temperatures. Bread, crackers, cakes, pies and such are not food, but denatured products with no life remaining therein. Wholesome foods are alive and organic.
DC's Supplement regime is odd but very satisfying. They strengthen the body and remove mucus from the tissues and stop inflammation of mucus membranes. Lower bowel tonic with lots of distilled water. Rejuvalac that I've learned to make with quinoa. Cayenne mixed with water three times a day, building up to 3 t. per day. Make sure to drink plenty of water with this, when you are getting started. Raw Apple Cider Vinegar with water or on salad, building up to 3 T. per day. Kelp a few capsules per day or mixed into soups, salads, or casseroles is preventative nutrition for the thyroid. Black strap Molasses and wheat germ oil are two more that give minerals and vitamins. I don't use wheat germ oil because of wheat allergy, and instead use flax seeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower sprouts on my salads.
DC explains that after a short period of time everyone will enjoy their foods more and have better health than with their former diet. All will come to a normal weight. Overweight individuals will lose and those underweight will gain after reaching "new low," because all excess mucus will be cleaned out of the body before healthy flesh is built.
Although I agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I follow DC's advice. I am awake for 4-5 hours before I break-my-fast. As I work to get my water, lower bowel tonic, rejuvalac, cayenne, apple cider vinegar, molasses, and kelp in, my appetite is satiated and nutritional requirements satisfied until late in the morning. At this time, I may begin with low-heated rice pudding (rice, sweet spices, almonds, honey, and fruit), green smoothie, fresh fruit, or carrot juice. Most often I make up a gallon of carrot juice and a gallon of smoothies for Joseph and I to sip during the day.
For lunch or dinner we like large salads made with lots of mixed vegetables, leafy greens, sprouted grains, nuts, and seeds, dried fruit, avocado, lemon, apple cider vinegar, herbs, black pepper, onion, garlic, etc. One thing I haven't tried yet is warm potassium broth for an exotic-tasting, low-heated vegetable soup. DC suggests starting the meal off with this potassium soup, followed with salad. After that, serve the low-heated (crock pot with dimmer) vegetables or grain casserole, prepared with various savory herbs all tasty, beneficial, and wholesome. At least five to six vegetables should be eaten each day, two being green, leafy ones.
DC's delicious casseroles are made with soaked, low-heated grains, fruits, vegetables, tasty herbs, etc. Lentils, soy, and most beans can be soaked for two or three days and low-heated twelve to twenty hours adding onion, garlic, peppers, etc., during low-heating. This method gives us foods that are are alive and delicious. I'm very excited to do as DC says; 'explore and concoct some very interesting, intriguing meals with a little daring and imagination.' I love this way of eating, because I never need to worry if I am overeating calories and getting enough nutrition for ample physical strength. Plus, when I stay the course I feel wonderful.
Although he advocates drinking at least a gallon of distilled water/fresh juices per day, he warns us not to drink liquids during mealtime. Chewing well is the secret to getting all we can out of this food. He tells us to drink our foods and chew our liquids, wait 30 minutes after eating before drinking.
So the adventure that began my trip into this re-exploration was a delightful family party. The funniest part was all the concern because of my out of the ordinary eating habits. All around my table were beloved family members, suffering from obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other degenerative diseases. Yet they were concerned about my vegetarian diet and the old protein question. I almost laughed right out loud. Quietly, I explained that I eat at least a pound of green vegetables per day. Since ounce per ounce greens have more protein than beef, I am doing fine in the protein department and in fact may have a glut there. Plus, this doesn't take into account all the protein I eat in fruits, grains, beans, nuts, and seeds.
Protein is important but so is the plethora of minerals, vitamins, and fibers not available to those eating a predominantly animal based diet. People have a hard time letting go of this propaganda propagated by the meat, dairy, and egg industries and taught in school as part of the 'health' curriculum. I tell them not to worry about protein, as we get all we need in plant foods. The chimpanzee is genetically similar to the human being and gets all is protein from greens, fruits, and nuts. Now I'm ready and set to get busy creating and eating my awesome food creations.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy.
