When I went to school, I learned that George Washington chopped down the cherry tree and Communism was bad. At the time, I had no idea why it mattered if GW killed a tree or why we wanted to stay away from Communism (translated Socialism.)Later, I began teaching my children. I taught them reading, writing, and arithmetic. I taught them spelling, science, economics, logic, literature, and most importantly history Now I think I get it. GW was honest--we need to be honest. Communism breads poverty, totalitarianism, and apathy. It is even worse than that. Communism leads to control of information, confiscation of private assets, and ethnic/political cleansing.
Oh, come on, you say, you're just an alarmist.
I don't think so. While it is true that I have read dozens of books on the history of the world, it's the true stories of women who lived through the atrocities of Communism or its tyrannical cousins that impacted me so deeply. If you don't want to study the issues, read some of these books. They'll rock your ivory tower and may change your mind about living in an entitlement driven state. Then you can ask yourself why we are embracing a president who is determined to build a virtual Berlin Wall around the United States of America.

If you change your mind after reading any of these, ask me for a few reading suggestions that explore our plight in greater depth. Instead of listening to the lies of the beguiling talking heads, let's learn to think for ourselves.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
