“For all have not every gift given unto them; for there are many gifts, and to every man is given a gift by the Spirit of God.” Doctrine and Covenants 46:11While I lived in Hawaii and served as the Beehive advisor and 2nd counselor in YW, I earned the Young Women's Medalion. It was hard work. I'd like to do the same for Faith in God for Girls. Although I've never had the opportunity to lead Achievment Days, I'd still like to participate. The following is a list from Developing Talents.
Complete at least two of the following activities each year:
• Learn how to budget and save money. Discuss why it is important to faithfully pay our tithing and how Heavenly Father blesses us when we do (see 3 Nephi 24:10–11). Pay your tithing and begin saving for an education. (I've done this--so no.)
• Learn to sing, play, or lead a song from the Children’s Songbook. Teach or share the song in a family home evening or at Primary. Discuss how developing talents helps prepare us for service to Heavenly Father and others. (I could try this one and take my piano playing to a new level.)
• Write a poem, story, or short play that teaches a principle of the gospel or is about Heavenly Father’s creations. (I've written two children's novels that accomplish this--so no.)
• Make an item from wood, metal, fabric, or other material, or draw, paint, or sculpt a piece of art. Display your finished work for others to see. (I'm working on learning to draw--yes, I"ll try this one.)
• Visit an art museum or attend a concert, play, or other cultural event. Share your experience with your family or activity day group. (Done over and over--so no.)
• Read D&C 88:118. Discuss what it means to “seek learning, even by study and also by faith.” Improve your personal study habits by doing such things as learning how to choose and read good books or being prepared for school each day. (Done-no.)
• List five things you can do to help around your home. Discuss the importance of obeying and honoring your parents and learning how to work. (Done-no.)
• Plan a physical fitness program for yourself that may include learning to play a sport or game. Participate in the program for one month. (This is a good one for me--always struggling to stick with exercise lately.)
• Learn about and practice good nutrition, good health, and good grooming, including modest dress. (This fits with my sewing goals.)
• Plan and complete your own activity that will help you develop your talents (write the activity below).
Working with girls this age again would be wonderful--it's my favorite age of girls. I miss so much having a little girl to teach sewing and cooking, and would love the opportunity to be a Titus 2 woman. I could do it in memory of my little Katie who died when just this age 12 years ago this September. I know we shouldn't aspire to callings, but I do love little ladies.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
