basement greenhouse
I've been toying with this idea and would like to give it a try. Buying 14 lbs. or more of greens a week, I feel way too tied to the "system." I don't like to feel so vulnerable. The idea of growing greens in flats in my basement is very appealing. I like how everything is automated, too. With our time in Seattle every winter, this project won't be a reality until April. So I have lots of time to plan and think about it. We have a nice cool spring to grow greens outside, but the heat makes them bolt. This system would work for me about 6 months out of the year during summer and fall. Additionally, I could start all my garden plants from seed, making the basement greenhouse pay for itself in just a couple months.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.

Very cool. I'm wondering if this would work in my garage, as I do not have a basement. I cannot control temperature there either... hmmmm? I will have to do some thinking.
ReplyDeleteI should probably first work on getting some more sun into my yard... our wooded lot has made gardening very discouraging. Do you think you could grow plants full size indoors with something similar to this?
