When we lived on the farm,I never considered a deep litter system. Nearly every week, I cleaned out the coop and dumped the do in the raspberry patch, garden, or in the flower beds. But living in the suburbs and especially in snow country, the only way to keep up is to use the deep litter system as garden mulch. Fred explains it so well, and his garden is lovely.
This spring we'll get a new flock of Buff Orpingtons, my favorite variety, if we get a decent coop built. I wish I could find six pullets already started to 16 weeks. Although the chicks are cute, I would rather just have the hens and skip the rest. The children are grown and don't care about them anymore.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
