Outlook today... grey stormy skies and very cold temps...let it snow!
On my mind today...I've got a several gifts to make this week for grandchildren and children. Lori is hosting the annual family Christmas party up in SLC next Monday night. I've absolutely got to get out to the fabric story before the snow starts to fall. All my studying will be on hold, while I accomplish my gift making.
Biggest challenge in the coming week..."For I have learned in whatsoever state I am to be content."(Philippians 4:11). I grabbed this scripture from the journal of Karen from very calm. I says it all.
Blessings from the past week...Your prayers worked. Spencer did not get sick at all from the immunizations. God, nutrition, and herbs to the rescue again.
What's cooking in the kitchen...It's Monday so I've got bread rising in the kitchen. With a bit of the dough I'll make flat bread to have Chili Tostadas. Of course mornings are not complete without a green smoothie. Today's included chard, carrot juice, oranges, and banana. I'm making a lemon custard pie for FHE. I'm in week 2 of Pantry Principle.
Prayer requests for the week ahead...pray for struggling families everywhere. They need our help to feed, house, and clothe their children. Then maybe consider sponsoring a child for Christmas.
My appearance today...Even though it's nearly 10 o'clock, "m still in my cream and blue flannel gown. I seem to study and write best dressed this way. I'm love sipping chamomile tea as I write. Before I get on with my day and tame my tresses, the cowlick sticks straight up in the air no matter how long it gets, and that's where all the grey is coming in. Grey hair is so unruly. Soon I'll be cleaned up, curled, and dressed in a grey tweed skirt, white blouse, plum sweater, black tights, and maryjanes.
Exercise goals for the week...with all the snow and cold my arthritis is flaring up. I'm not really sure what to do in this situation. I guess I'll walk and stretch as much as I can.
My reading this week…Like always I'm reading scripture in Spanish; slowly I'm understanding more. Even with limited time this week, I'll continue with my Gospel Doctrine studies and searching out herbal remedies for arthritis. Bathtub reading this week is Western Civilization. The only problem with studying in the bath is trying not to drop the book in the water. Even more than Victorian literature, I love history. Right now I'm studying for a CLEP in WC.
A Scripture passage I am memorizing/meditating on...still Isaiah 9:6. Last night the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang the scripture that Handel put to music. I love this scripture and God keeps placing it before my eyes. There must be a new message I'm to learn from it.
Homemaking tasks this week...This week my area rotation lands me in the Front Room. Interestingly, I had planned to put up the tree in there tonight for FHE. found a great pine cone wreath tutorial that I think I'll try to get to after the gifts are finished.
Something new I want to try...no time with the handmade gifts.
Creative projects I'm working on...He Shall Feed His Flock is as good as it's going to get at my skill level. I'm beginning O Holy Night. Exciting news here is that my vibrato is returning. I had a bit of success using it two days ago.
God has been teaching me...I must continue to pray always with great faith and humility. He will answer my pleas. He loves and cares for me.
A simple pleasure...The warmth of my favorite wool blanket.
A picture to share…None this week.
I solved the "it's freezing cold outside" exercise issue. I have purchased a step. It cost me $100 and will fit in my tiny family room easily.
ReplyDeleteI sounds like everything else is going well. Have fun making your Christmas gifts. My material doesn't arrive until today and so we're getting a very late start. I have informed the girls that they'll be getting quilt tops under the tree, and that we'll send them off soon after to be top stitched.
