The Harvester (Library of Indiana Classics) The Harvester by Gene Stratton-Porter

I love the descriptions of plants and the loyalty of the harvester.

My SIL and I were talking the other day about favorite books. This remains one of mine. She said she couldn't read it because Ruth did not deserve David. Hmmm....I read it again yesterday. She is maddening, but you have to understand her a bit. He did not want another woman but only wanted her when she was ready to fully give her whole self to him--to be his complete partner. I think it is a lovely story. But to be quite honest, the setting and characterization are still my favorite parts of this book.

Anyone who loves herbs, gardens, pretty clothes, or good, honest, merciful people will love this book as much as me.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself.
