Outlook...bright...as my health improves day by day, I'm gaining confidence and anticipation for the future.
On My Mind...The gate to the old farm was open last week. I drove in to get a better look at the place. The rare flowering cherry I planted 12 years ago is a nice adolescent tree. The scarlet maple is gone as are the raspberries. The fences are falling down. Three trees lay cut in the front pasture half split and rotting on the ground. Why would anyone put that kind of money into a home and let it get run down?
Delish Kitch...Sweet Monday~Chocolate Chip Gingerbread for Family Home Evening
Homemaking...cleaning windows to let in the sunshine.
Praying for...children all over the world~peace, safety, love, food, shelter, warmth
Appearance...black cotton prairie skirt, plum and white tunic over a plum long-sleeved T, and black birkies.
Movement...I'm excited to get back to my regular exercising. I like to start early with the Firm around 5 or 6 AM, walk around noon, and stretch before bed. All this movement and the time outside in the sun make me feel so energized.
Bibliophile Fix…I finally got a copy of Women of the Old Testament and The Third Thousand Years from the library up here and plan to spend the majority of my time reading and studying them this week. I've got to find a way to get copies of these books for my library. Plus, I'm expecting two books for my herb course tomorrow. I should finish my 4th class by Friday.
Blessings...living in a land of plenty, I've never gone hungry, unclothed, or homeless.
Scripture Meditations..."Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?" Genesis 17:17
Something New...I found a treadmill in the basement that I'll set up to use on rainy days. I rolled my hair last night~loose ponytail on the top of my head with pink foam rollers. I hope it doesn't turn out like a frizzy poof-ball. I hope it dries in this damp weather. Update: It worked sort of, but I need to let it dry most of the way before rolling. Update 2: Never doing this again! My hair is not only flat it is sooooo frizzy. Pony tail day today.
My week is looking...promising...visiting old friends...learning new things
God has been teaching me...to serve is to love.
Devotions...Gospel Doctrine lesson 9, read a couple articles from the March Ensign and one from the Conference Report. Old Testament will be Hagar and Sarah this week. Spanish devotions remain with Polyglot Book of Mormon.
Simple Pleasure...even on dark days the light in this house is quite bright...morning devotionals and picnic dinners with my honey.
Commitment to Loveliness...1) weed flower beds on dry day 2) work on colored pencil technique with Creating Radiant Flowers in Colored Pencil 3) re-commit to 30 min. violin per day 4) live aloha even so far away from the beach 5) think more~speak less
Poetry I'm Enjoying...
Song
Oh! To be a flower
Nodding in the sun,
Bending, then upspringing
As the breezes run;
Holding up
A scent brimmed cup,
Full of summer's fragrance to the summer sun.
Oh! To be a butterfly
Still, upon a flower,
Winking with its painted wings,
Happy in the hour.
Blossoms hold
Mines of gold
Deep within the farthest heart of each chaliced flower.
Oh! To be a cloud
Blowing through the blue,
Shadowing the mountains,
Rushing loudly through
Valleys deep
Where torrents keep
Always their plunging thunder and their misty arch of blue.
Oh! To be a wave
Splintering on the sand,
Drawing back, but leaving
Lingeringly the land.
Rainbow light
Flashes bright
Telling tales of coral caves half hid in yellow sand.
Soon they die, the flowers;
Insects live a day;
Clouds dissolve in showers;
Only waves at play
Last forever.
Shall endeavor
Make a sea of purpose mightier than we dream today?.
