deeply fulfilling and challenging lifestyle~book review #15

Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House by Cheryl Mendelson

I'd forgotten about this book until reminded of it in a conversation last week. Reading it again, I've had a nice brake from mountains of history, health, and herb books. After more than a quarter century as a homemaker, I nevertheless, learned quite a bit from this book. However, it's a bit sad that this woman felt embarrassed for loving domestic life, even going so far as prefacing the book with an apology. Homemaking, with the proper perspective, is a deeply fulfilling and challenging lifestyle. This is the final message of the author and the example of my grandmothers. If you're the type that thinks curling up with a new cookbook is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, you'll find Home Comforts a delightful read.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
