Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

hydrangea-ish--Journal #29 6/6/2010

Outlook

Missed church again because of the hacking cough. I'm much better but don't want to get all our elderly brothers and sisters ill.

On my mind

Gig Harbor and the California Coast--meaning ocean and beach

Keeping a Home

I didn't do much of anything last week except keep the laundry up. I WILL vacuum, dust, do bathrooms, and PP area 3 this week absolutely, positively even if it kills me.

Deliciousness

Zuchetti Marinara Salad an oh, so delicious spaghetti recipe for my new cookbook. I do believe it's the best sauce I've made in my entire life. I've got cooked and raw versions that are both exquisite.

Toward Real Education

Herb classes, history from many angles, botany, anatomy, gardening, literature, and tax classes with Hubby--so many books-so little time. But my new focused schedule has me completing more than ever before.

Toward Rhythm and Beauty

I love sitting out on the deck as the sun rises to study God's Word. Joseph sits there, too. While we share the beauty of our little Garden of Eden, we each spend time with God separately and then together. It's wonderful. Sometimes I like this empty nest state.

Bee News

I still can't breathe around the smoke, so Joseph is bee boy this week. He got into our newest hive to put in the last two frames. This hive of bees is amazing. They had already filled in the space with new comb and honey, which we had to remove to insert the frames. It is the most beautiful wax, being nearly pure white. The honey was very delicious and nearly clear, as well.

Biblo Fix

The Bronze Bow with my students--a great book worth reading again and again.

Appearance

Flannel still....no curls either...I'll get dressed tomorrow for sure.

Scripture Meditations

"The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the young woman to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. " Titus 2:3-5 This scripture gives me reason to think every time I consider it. One part that is sort of funny to me is the part about wine. Since I don't drink wine at all or even grape juice, does this mean not given to much

"whine" for me. Every time we drive through eastern Washington or other places considered "wine" country, we begin to "whine." I know silly family joke. It is something to consider though. Seriously, I take this charge as a literal command to empty nest homemakers, which gave me a great idea for another new book, which will remain top secret until it's complete.

Praying For

This week we have two cute babies slated for grandones of the week, Princess

Gracie and Sir Quinn. They're just over one and delightfully sweet babies. They are both absolutely gorgeous, as are all my grandchildren. I pray for their health and safety. I pray that their parents will be inspired to know the very best way to raise these special spirits from our Father in Heaven.

What's Coming

Still uncertain, although I'd like to get out and put some sunflower, green

bean, snow pea, carrot, radish, pepper, and other seeds in the back kitchen garden tomorrow in the early coolness of the morning. And I've got to get pole and scarlet runner beans planted to cover the ugly back fence.

Commitment to Loveliness

I'm going to get out the candles for dinner more often. When summer begins to heat up, we keep the lights off and the blinds drawn in the evening. It's the perfect atmosphere for cozy candle light. Breakfast and lunch on the deck are a must until fall.

Simple Pleasure

More flowers in my garden. This bush grows all over town and looks hydrangea-ish, but I don't have a clue as to its name. If you ignore the lovely brown and white stripes of the chain link privacy strips, this is a fantastic picture. I love the way the light plays off the background.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
