Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

who will be my king-Samuel 8

During Samuel’s ministry, the government was still run by judges 1 Samuel 8:1. The Lord God was supposed to be Israel's king 1 Samuel 12:12. The children of Israel wanted a king like all the nations, which also meant they rejected God as their sovereign 1 Samuel 8:5, 7,20.

Even though the Israelites rejected God, the Lord still loved them and instructed Samuel to warn them what would happen if they chose to go forward with this plan 1 Samuel 8:9–18.

They didn't care or at least they didn't understand the consequences. They wanted to be like everyone else 1 Samuel 8:19–22. Does this sound familiar? Anyone who has raised children especially rebellious youth (not all are rebellious) understands the mindset. Even some adults are like this. They don't look forward to possible consequences but want socialized health care or government owned businesses or drink too much alcohol or sleep around or neglect their children or other poor choices. Following worldly ways instead of our Heavenly King, we follow foolish ways just as the children of Israel made this foolish request 1 Samuel 8:5.

"For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding." Psalm 47:7

"For the Lord is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king" Psalm 89:18

Instead of rejecting Jesus as our true king, let us reject worldly ways--immodesty, immorality, dishonesty, contention, force, impatience, selfishness, uncharitableness, idol worship, and so on. The world will pass away leaving us imprisoned in Satan's snares--Jesus will never desert us if we choose to be His subjects.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
