banish fear and worry

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" 2 Timothy 1:7

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:6-7

I  no longer want to live in a big house.
Give me a cottage with a little garden with water nearby.

When worry rears its ugly head, we need to nip it in the bud. Try to stop what you are doing and pray about it. Prayer can bring peace.

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matthew 6:34 It's not that God does not want us to prepare for the future. We can read lots about preparing in Proverbs 31. He is teaching us that worry won't change things and to trust Him. In fact we are commanded not to worry. The choice to do so might even be sinful, since it injures God's Temple, the body.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" Romans 12:1-2 In order to know God's will, we pray, study scripture, and wait for promptings from the Holy Spirit.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" Psalm 119:105 Spending time in God's Word each day will help us not to fear or worry. Fear and worry kill a meek and quiet spirit. If I allow God's word to light my path, I will not worry about the journey. I will have peace.

This brings to mind the book The Hiding Place.Corry and Betsy were in a dire situation in a concentration camp. They chose instead of fear and worry to read and share the Word of God. In their horrible surroundings, they found joy and peace. We can internalize this example. Wherever we find ourselves in whatever situation, we can learn the will of God and radiate His goodness. We can trust Him and let go of fear and worry. We can enjoy a meek and quiet spirit. We can realize that although life is precious, living with God again is more precious still.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
