Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

sunny smile--journal #36 7/25/2010

On my mind
just happy...

Keeping a Home
Pantry Principle area 4...my biggest chore will be inventorying my food storage...I've sort of neglected doing this for months.  I feel a need to get this in order at this time. I'd ike to build two more raised beds for the carport garden. With all the sun in that area, we are having excellent results. It's time to start building the soil for next year with kitchen scraps, worms, a tiny bit of native soil, composted horse manure, and this fall's leaves.

Deliciousness
Quinoa Taco Salad with homemade tortillas was a hit this week. It is so good. Really it's just taco salad made with a little rice or quinoa and lots of black or pinto beans instead of ground beef.  The flavor is outrageous and the sauteed onions and peppers on top give it the feel of fajitas.  Mmmmm...I decided that quinoa is too expensive to justify so from now on it will be brown rice.  The recipe is in my new cookbook.
Toward Real Education
No changes here...still loving my studies...

Toward Rhythm and Beauty
I starting birthday and Christmas presents for the girls, aprons and napkins . I have a few ideas for the grands, car cozies, black apple dolls, and a plush soccer ball. It's easy for the parents and inlaws--I give them cinnamon or plain honey. This year I hope to include home made bread in the gift bags of the ones close by. I'd like to make pajamas for  Joseph and my boys. Homemade gifts are so much more satisfying.

Bee News
I committed bee-slaughter, when I stepped on a little lost lady the other day. Hope to get an extractor this week or next to start early extractions.

Garden Gate
Things are green and growing...lots of sunflowers for my sunflower bud experiments.

Biblo Fix
Enjoying Health and Happiness quite a bit.

Appearance
wrapped in a seersucker rosebud gown with my foot in a bucket of epsom salts. The sting did remarkably well with the plantain poultice but became infected--red and hot--almost back to normal now...will attend church.

Scripture Meditations
"And they did also carry with them deseret, which, by interpretation, is a honey bee; and thus they did carry with them swarms of bees..." Ether 2:3

Praying For
This week our grandone of the week is Claire.  She is a sweet, little doll.  I pray for her health, safety, and happiness. I pray that her parents will be led by the Spirit in raising her. I pray that the world will be a safe place for her to grow up and  that children everywhere will be as blessed with the magical childhood I wish for her.

What's Coming
The unveiling...

Simple Pleasure
...amazing health from greens and God...

Commitment to Loveliness
Deep cleaning the storage room...It's hard to think of that room as lovely, but without certain people piling junk in there every time I get it cleaned, it can stay tidy. I've begun sewing every Friday now. I really like the rhythm of my days now. I'm making a chicken scratch apron to add to my collection....so glad that pattern companies are coming out with vintage patterns. I've been looking for a kick pleat pattern for a long while. Not so sure about sewing the jacket though.

Images From My Life
With our sprinklers not working properly, many of my flowers have died this year...not this sweet moss rose. It greats me each day with a sunny smile.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
