direct my path

"The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward."Psalm 19:7-11

Here we are told that they Lord can speak to us through our souls, minds, hearts, eyes, His word, and His servants. The benefits of listening to the word is personal conversion, wisdom, joy, enlightenment, and being warned. The word is sweeter than honey and more precious than gold, silver, or precious gems. To make myself fit for the next world makes living in this one so much happier, which is part of the great reward.

"faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 No question here. We must hear the word of God by attending church and participating in Sunday School. I also like to listen to re-braodcasts of past conferences, to Music and the Spoken Word, and other such things.

"Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine" 1 Timothy 4:13 I love the clarity of God's commands and have found great joy in studying His word to learn more of them.

"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11 This one is the most difficult for me. I've tried and succeeded a few times. But I sincerely believe the truth of it. When I need it the most, the scripture hidden in my heart comes into my mind, helping me to be and do my best.

"Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them..." 1 Timothy 4:15 Meditating is thinking about, pondering, and mulling over the meaning of God's Word in my life. I have to say that this practice was difficult at first. I see it now as a time to be in the presence of God sort of like a conversation with him in my head--a time when He can direct my path.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
