the praise of men-1 Kings 5–7

The Lord commanded Solomon to build a temple  As today, Solomon used the finest material available to build the Lord's house. During its construction, the builders showed reverence for the temple "And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building." 1 Kings 6:7.)

Because Solomon was blessed with wisdom, riches, and honor, he was able to obtain building materials and enlist the help of skillful laborers in the construction of the temple 1 Kings 5:1–12.

Just as He does today, the Lord covenanted with Solomon. If he would keep God's commandments, the people would be blessed 1 Kings 6:11–13 D&C 97:15–17.)

Sadly we see, even though Solomon loved the Lord, he loved the praise of men more. He built a house for himself even grander than the house of the Lord 1 Kings 6:2–3; 7:2, 6–7.) This ostentation use of riches is the beginning of Solomon’s gradual decline.

Likening these scriptures unto myself, I have to ask some questions. Do I care more about the Lord or the praise of men? Do I honor God and worship Him in his house? Do I live up to the covenants in 1 Kings 6:11–13 D&C 97:15–17?

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
