This list of character traits is identical with the list given for charity. Developing a character like Jesus is our the goal of earth life if this scripture is correct. If we want to test our progress on the path, we should look at our fruits; do we possess charity?
"But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen" Moroni 7:47-48
God put these ideas in His Word as a guide for us; our instruction manual. He did not give us unreachable goals, and it is possible for every man, woman, and child to attain a life of good fruits with the help of God. Another key is to let our desire to be like Jesus get past the mind level and let it changer our hearts. Letting pride and stubbornness go, loving and gaining a relationship with God, reading and obeying His word, we can possess these fruits of the spirit and live with the pure love of Chirst. It has nothing to do with birth status, age, education, or wealth, the fruits of the spirit, the pure love of Christ are a gift to all who desire them and work to obtain them.
