"After it was truly manifested unto this first elder that he had received a remission of his sins, he was entangled again in the vanities of the world; but after repenting, and humbling himself sincerely, through faith, god ministered unto him by an holy angel, whose countenance was as lightning, and whose garments were pure and white above all other whiteness; and gave unto him commandments which inspired him;" Doctrine and Covenants 20:5-7
All through the Bible we read about God acting through His prophets for the benefit of man. He doesn't do anything "save He reveals it unto His servants, the prophets." Amos 3:7
"For he hath answered the ends of the law, and he claimeth all those who have faith in him; and they who have faith in him cleave unto every good thin; wherefore he advocateth the cause of the children of men; and he dwelleth eternally in the heavens. And because he hath done this, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased? Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men. For behold, they are subject unto him, to minister according to the word of his command, showing themselves unto them of strong faith and a firm mind in every form of godliness. And the office of their ministry is to call men unto repentance, and to fulfill and to do the work of the covenants of the Father, which he hath made unto the children of men, to prepare the way among the children of men by declaring the word of Christ unto the chosen vessels of the Lord, that they may bear testimony of him. And by so doing, the Lord God prepareth the way that the residue of men may have faith in Christ, that the Holy Ghost may have place in their hearts according to the power thereof, and after this manner bringeth to pass the Father, the covenants which he hath made unto to the children of men." Moroni 7:28-32
Why doesn't everyone see an angel? First, he does not send Heavenly beings to satisfy the whims of man. Additionally, He loves us too much and only sends angels when necessary. "Unto whom much is given, much is required." Doctrine and Covenants 82:3 In many instances, seeing an angel does not change the heart of man; the scripture is replete with instances of angel visits and people turning back to evil ways. Only faith and submission to the Holy Spirit can change the heart. To see an angel and not accept God, condemns men to unnecessary condemnation and eternal punishment if they do not change their hearts. Therefore, God sends angels to prophets to relay heavenly messages for the benefit of all mankind. Those who love and accept God will receive these messages. Those that do not will continue to say, "Show me a sign."
I have no trouble following God through His word or through His prophet. Because this world is so confusing, it is a great comfort to have the scriptures, with the writings of the prophets of old, and a latter-day prophet, who is God's mouthpiece to the world today, to guide me. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am not a mindless follower. With a mind of my own, I study, listen, ponder, and pray. Guidance always follows.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
