Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

only 29 myself...journal #47 10/10/2010

On My Mind...
the children are catching with me in age...the twins, Elizabeth and Lorelyn, were 32 yesterday...Nikki is 26...Jason is 24...Spencer is 19...Emily will be 28 in just a few weeks...Katie 22 or 9...how is it possible to have such old children, when I'm only 29 myself?

Celebration...
nasty tasting X-Ceptic knocked out the hard part of my latest virus....still had some body aches and fatigue but no horrible flu symptoms...it's working...it really is...praise God!

Deliciousness...
a fabulous salad for dinner last night with lots of greens, chunky veggies, pintos, avocado, serrano,  lime, and cilantro. As promised in Green for Life, I love and crave greens. Dr. Fuhrman was right on with his clinicalization (I told you before my secret last name is Shakespeare.) of the China Study. Eating mainly raw, mostly green veggies, lots of fruit, quite a few beans, a bit of whole grain, some nuts and seeds I feel better than I've ever felt in my life--including childhood. So to me deliciousness is a huge green smoothie, a bowl of my soon to be famous muesli, a giant salad with beans, an apple with nut butter, but certainly not a pan of sticky, sickly sweet pastries, a potato drowning in fatty dairy products, or char-broiled steak any more. But this has isolated me from people somewhat, too. A couple weeks ago, we stayed at the home of a relative. This lovely person was quite incensed. "Isn't my food good enough for you?" I explained that in fact all of it was tempting, delicious, and very good, but I couldn't eat it if I wanted to continue to get well or stay well.

Toward a Real Education...
Really enjoying The Winter Harvest Handbook, which is all about using unheated greenhouses to grow greens and other veggies year around even in the coldest US locations. One young man that I mentor, who wants to be a farmer would love this book.

Praying For...

Those that serve the Lord far from home around the world. Our Princess Gayle... she's a delightful little lady. We pray for her safety, health, and happiness and the same for all children everywhere. Praying for our children in their roles as partners, parents, and providers.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
