The other day someone related that they could never believe the Book of Mormon was the Word of God because of grammatical errors. How sad for them that they cannot look beyond the faults of men. How sad for them that they attempt to disprove God's Word in this way. Men are not perfect. And sadly, the same argument could be used against the Bible. Conflicts, disharmonies, and shortcomings abound in the Bible, but I do not dismiss it. God has a word or two for those who attack His work thusly.
"And I said unto him: Lord, the Gentiles will mock at these things, because of our weakness in writing; for Lord thou has and us mighty in word by faith, but thou hast not made us mighty in writing; for thou has made all this people that they could speak much, because of the Holy Ghost which thou hast given the; And thou has made us that we could write but little, because of the awkwardness of our hands. Behold, thou hast not made us mighty in writing like unto the brother of Jared, for thou madest him that the things which he wrote were mighty even as thou art, unto the overpowering of man to read them. Thou hast also made our words powerful and great, even that we cannot write them; wherefore, when we write we behold our weakness, and stumble because of the placing of our words; and I fear lest the Gentiles shall mock at our words. And when I had said this, the Lord spake unto me, saying: Fools mock, but they shall mourn; and my grace is sufficient for the meek, that they shall take no advantage of your weakness; and if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then w\ill I make weak things become strong unto them. Behold, I will show unto the Gentiles their weakness and I will show unto them that faith, hope, and charity bringeth unto me--the fountain of all righteousness." Ether 12:23-28
"Wherefore, I know by this thing which thou hast said, that if the Gentiles have not charity, because of our weakness, that thou wilt prove them, and take away their talent, yea even that which they have received, and give unto them who shall have more abundantly." Ether 12:35
The Book of Mormon can only be accepted, when the person reading it attempts to understand it by the Holy Spirit.
"And whoso receiveth this record, and shall not condemn it because of the imperfections which are in it, the same shall know of greater things than these. Behold, I am Moroni; and were it possible, I would make all things known unto you...And if there be faults they be the faults of a man. But behold, we know no fault; nevertheless God knoweth all things; therefore, he that condemneth, let him be aware lest he shall be in danger of hell fire." Mormon 8:12, 17
If one prayerfully and spiritually seeks to know the truth, one can receive a witness from the Holy Spirit. Because the Word was recorded by men and translated by men, some errors exist. As in the Bible, recording and translation by imperfect humans almost guarantee this. However, if we read the words of the Book of Mormon, and the words of Moroni, the Lord will fulfill His promises to make the words of the prophets mighty to our souls.
"Condemn me not because of mine imperfection, neither my father, because of his imperfection, neither them who have written before him; but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been." Mormon 9:31
The Book of Mormon was written for us, the inhabitants of the latter days. "The Book of Mormon is an account written by the had of Mormon upon Plates...which is to show unto the remnant of the House of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; and that they may know the covenants of the Lord, that they are not cast off forever; --And also tot he convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ of the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations--And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ." Book of Mormon title page
All scripture is inspired by God, but subject to human frailty and weakness. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are such. While the Lord directed men to protect and preserve the Bible through the ages, He inspired other men to bring forth the Book of Mormon during this day and age for a mighty purpose. It is direct revelation. It is the word, work, and power of God, containing the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us not despise the revelations of God.
I love to read the holy scriptures,
And every time I do;
I feel the Spirit start
To grow within my heart
A testimony that their true.
Search, Ponder, and Pray
Are the things that I must do.
The Spirit will guide
And deep inside
I'll know the scriptures are true.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
