not hunting for something else

Matthew 11:28-30

To labor and be heavy laden means to bear burdens in this life. The Lord tells us He will give us rest; in the next verse he explains how. As modern people, we might look at a yoke and think of it as a burden instead of a tool to balance and lighten burdens. I think of the vision of a Chinese carrying two buckets of water balanced on a yoke. Without the yoke, the work could still be done, but it would be much more difficult, slow, and exhausting. To take Christ's yoke we choose to humbly follow and allow Him to guide our lives. Easing our burdens with the yoke He provides does not make life more difficult as some believe. Jesus' teachings are not too restrictive, but lovingly protective and burden lifting.

"It means entering into the knowledge and love of God, having faith in his purpose and in His plan, to such an extent that we know we are right, and that we are not hunting for something else; we are not disturbed by every wind of doctrine, or by the cunning and craftiness of men who lie in wait to deceive. [It is rest] from the cry that is going forth here and there--lo, here is Christ; lo, there is Christ." Joseph F. Smith

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
