Celebration...God's goodness, kindness, mercy, and revelation...
Scripture Meditations..."there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me... For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
Praying For...all my sweet grands that they will cautious and obedient...Samantha and Jason, that they will remember they are children of God, that Jesus lives and loves them, and that they will find joy and happiness...leaders of nations will throw off corruption and follow the commandments of God...orphans and families that they will find all the resources they need to be fed, clothed, sheltered, and safe...missionaries and servants of God that they will have safety and find souls with softened hearts ready to listen to the gospel...
Commitment to Deliciousness...Rice with Kreamy Pesto Sauce...make a pot of rice...throw 1/2 an avocado, 1/2 a handful of raw cashews, 1 T. nutritional yeast, a couple handfuls of fresh basil, 1/4 clove garlic, a couple green onion tops, and some Mrs. Dash into the blender with enough distilled water to make it into a smooth sauce. Mix into brown rice. Also good with raw zucchini 'noodles.' Making lots of smoothies and salads with greens from my micro-farm.
Commitment to Loveliness...found a couple ways to wear my hair. I like long hair so much better than short. It takes so much less time, money, and effort to keep it looking nice. I found a couple fun blogs with style ideas for long hair. 1 and 2
Commitment to Movement...now that allergy season is over for me, I'm walking again. Most especially, I love walking through the gardens of the university campus. Also, I like the trail up the canyon but don't feel safe to walk it alone.
Commitment to Modesty...wearing a little black dress from Mikarose...hair is half-up clipped back with an exquisite pink and gold hair clip, a gift from my friend Erin. It has a fancy name that I can't remember. I wish I could remember the name of it, cause I'd like a few more pieces....
Looks cute even on an old gal. |
Thimble News...my modesty mentor, Lydia Sherman, posted a lovely post on sewing a winter wardrobe. I need to get some energy going in the sewing department, since I love creating in this way. I made all sorts of plans for spring that fizzled-writing and nursing took priority. I absolutely must not let this enjoyable work slip away...
Towards a Real Education...wrote art history, ancient history, devotional, chemistry/physics, Shakespeare, handicraft, PPP, and Plutarch lessons. Made videos for grammar, Montessori demonstrations, and student organization. In order to do this, I research even though I already know the material. I am amazed at the new depth my learning is taking because of research, thinking, and writing for my target audience. Plus, I love it. The part I don't love is learning how to program it into the website and editing--I'm the typo queen. Especially enjoying continuing my education in the healing arts but focusing more on healing foods rather than herbs right now. Good books for this study are Healing with Whole Foods, Food as Medicine, and The Green Pharmacy Guide to Healing Foods.
Sound of Music...more like the sound of silence...hopefully, when I'm in Phoenix during August, I'll get my old friend repaired.
Garden Gate...I'm about ready to give up outdoor gardening. Indoor micro-farming is much more rewarding without months of waiting for harvest.
Bee Buzz...I'm the laziest bee keeper ever. Yet, the girls continue to work and make honey.
The Dispensary...David Christopher once told me, that it took me over 45 years to get in sad shape. Like tree rings, natural healing has many layers and takes time. I had another incident of liver trouble and look like a pumpkin the last couple months. My florescent continence, friends' expressions of concern, waking at 3 am, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, allergies, SOB, and pain under the right shoulder blade have irritated and interrupted my life. I haven't been able to use strong herbs lately with my tender alimentary system, so researched liver healing foods. My search led me to berries, oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, carrots, spinach, basil, avocado, apples, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, kale, chard, beet greens, collards, garlic, onion, daikon, artichoke, asparagus, beets, celery, legumes, spirulina, flax, and nutritional yeast plus drinking lots of water. I'm smiling, because that is basically the answer I got from God. Keep doing what I'm doing and everything will be OK. After my search, I made a delicious dinner of herbed polenta with tomato, onion, garlic, basil, kale, and artichoke sauce with nutritional yeast plus a huge salad of micro-greens with sunflower seeds, parsley, and a touch of balsamic vinegar. Now that was good medicine...and I am slowly loosing my yellow cast.
Simple Pleasure...enjoying sunshine and warmth without sneezing...
I believe Blessed Thistle is a very gentle liver tonic, you may want to try that. My favorite herbal book is Herbally Yours by Penny Royal. It is a super simple reference. It is old, but still good.
ReplyDeleteI believe I am growing out my hair again, just so I can have fun with it. I will have to start trying some of these pretty hair-dos. Have you been able to use my hair clip at all?
So, now after getting into DYT, I am working on getting back into skirts and dresses, just in my type. I got out of wearing them during my pregnancy (because of the cost, and I didn't have my sewing machine). Planning these things is so fun.
I am not sure if you got my replies about the hair clip. It is a Ficcare maximus clip. Another great hair clip is the Flexi-8.
ReplyDeleteYou look great!
Thanks Erin! You are wonderful.
