the work still moves forward

Acts 12

James was killed by King Herod.  Because of the success and boost to his public opinion ratings, King Herod also sought to kill Peter. Capturing him and putting him into prison, King Herod placed Peter under heavy guard. When the members of the Church learned of Peter's plight, they prayed "without ceasing...unto God for him." Prayers of faith in behalf of church leaders can uphold them and keep them safe even today.

“There never should be a day pass but all of the people composing the Church should lift up their voices in prayer to the Lord to sustain his servants” (Joseph F. Smith, Gospel Doctrine, 5th ed. [1939], 223).

The Lord heard the prayers of the righteous. An angel assisted Peter's escape from prison. Many instances are recorded, where the Lord miraculously preserved someone’s life until that person completed his or her earthly mission: Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Abinadi, Alma, Amulek, Nephi, and Joseph Smith.

King Herod did not come to a good end. After Peter’s escape, he was died. An "... angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost." Acts 12:23 "But the word of God grew and multiplied." Acts 12:24 Although many have sought to destroy the work of the Kingdom, the Church has flourished. That's not to say saints of old and saints of latter-days have not endured persecution. Certainly, they have, but the work still moves forward.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
