Paradigm Shift

admitted...

Not a boot girl, nevertheless I get inspired by this cute ensemble.

I'm sad to see summer go. I love warm weather, sitting in the sun, smelling petunias on my walks, digging in the garden, and green, green, green. Without hot chocolate, cold weather means aching bones, shivering, slippery sidewalks, and snow. Brrrrr.....

But.....

It also means sewing new clothes, and I surely need some. I bought the cutest denim the other day with with hearts. This will be a new sheath/jumper (and I bought enough to make jumpers for our 5 granddaughters). Another piece of plain denim, which project was put on hold with the honey harvest, will be an A-line skirt with two, side, kick pleats and black buttons. A couple more in charcoal and navy corduroy would be nice.  I have one long-sleeved blouse and one long-sleeved T that fit me. Alas, since they're quite worn, I'll turn them into patterns for tops in my favorite shades of pink, blue, and plum. I'll make a few boxy jacket/cardigans from corduroy and boiled wool if I can find them. I talk big and mean well. Let's see how much I actually get done.

Did I tell you, Joanne's is opening up in Walmart-ville on October 1. Up to now, our fabric purchasing options were Walmart, Ace Hardware (spendy), and a couple pricey quilt shops. Other than those, I could drive 50 miles to the nearest Joanne's and a bigger Ace Hardware. I've done this a grand total of twice in six years.

This is my look minus the boots-classic femininity.

  1. I LOVE the green outfit. The skirt is beautiful! I just ordered a bunch of material to sew with - mostly cottons but I don't know of any good sites for wool. I'd love to make some wool skirts for fall and winter.
