cures of right living

John 16:16–33

Jesus told his disciples that He would die and be resurrected. He wanted them to understand what was coming so they would have peace during the coming terrible scenes and thereafter.

"A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world." John 16:21

All who have birthed a child will understand what He meant in the above scripture. The trial and death of Jesus was difficult to say the least, causing much mourning of those that loved and followed Him. When they understood His ascension and resurrection, they rejoiced. But these verses are for inhabitants of the now as well. We can gain peace in this world by striving to live according to Jesus' example and having faith in Him. Overcoming the world, Jesus showed us the way and said be of good cheer.

To be of good cheer is a commandment. Surely we will experience difficult things, but it is important to follow this counsel. So many people today think they need some sort of pill to help them be of good cheer, when all that is needed is to follow Jesus in every way possible. All through the scriptures we are told how to be of good cheer with the natural laws of faith, hope, health, exercise, conduct, thought, and so forth. Certainly, it takes effort to dig out these nuggets of truth, but nonetheless, they are there. Pills are quick to be sure, but nothing compares with the cures of right living.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
