John 13
Jesus washed the feet of the Apostles, an act usually performed by servants, to teach them about humility and service. Peter objected when Jesus began to wash his feet, because he didn't want the Lord to act as his servant. But Jesus told Peter it must be done.
Jesus told the Apostles that they should follow his example of service. It makes no sense, but serving others brings us closer and increases our capacity to love. By washing feet, Jesus’ demonstrated qualities of good leaders. When we are in positions of leadership, such as parenthood or the head of an organization, we will do better if we humble ourselves and serve those under our authority.
During this event, Jesus repeatedly told his disciples to love one another. He tells us likewise. When we don't feel like serving, when it is inconvenient, when we don't like the other person, is the very best time to begin. Everyone feels tired and down at times. It is during these times that serving others will bring us the most growth. Instead of taking the attitude of not doing for others what they should do for themselves, we might remember washing of feet.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
