Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

beware, clipping greens causes serenity

Liesl Gibson at Oliver+S  is my favorite children's clothing designer.
Sunday School Lesson...I enjoyed learning more about the doctrine of Christ, increasing my desire to press forward, and solidifying my resolve to feast on His words...during the coming week, I'll feast upon Jacob 1-4.

Praying For...Oakley and Micah...safety, security, healthy, and happiness for the children of the world...the softening of the hearts of leaders of nations...the return to virtue and charity in the USA...

Scripture Meditations..."Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do." 2 Nephi 32:3 Life doesn't have to be as confusing, as we sometimes make it.

Bibliophilia...things are going so much better with my resolve to use my time differently. Getting up early to study, necessitates my retiring early. It isn't a sacrifice, when I know I'll have more early hours to pursue my interests. I am a morning person thanks to my parents. As a little child, my bedtime was 7:00 regardless of our location or activities. We always got up early, too. It was habit training. Anyway, I've been reading Mao Tse-Tung and His China again. Although Chinese culture fascinates me, and I would sorely like to adopt a Chinese child, I count my blessings that I was born during this time in the US. I'm so grateful for my liberty and so sad to see those liberties eroding.

Garden Gate...beware, clipping greens for smoothies, salads, and garnishes causes serenity. Even if our globetrotting ways never allow me to have the summer garden I dream of, I am content with my little indoor jungle. I don't have many windows in my house, but every one of them is the home of a little patch of green. My orchid has six blossoms now. Lots of tiny sprouts are growing into seedlings.

Sound of Music...focusing on one composer at a time is amazing. I haven't done this, since Spencer was 12...playing hymns each morning is wonderful

Movement...doing T Tapp in the mornings again...with walking (when there is no ice), stretching, and a little weight training, I'm slowly getting stronger again.

Deliciousness...best dish from this week was Chick Pea Pumpkin Curry. Even Spencer's friend who hates spicy food loved it. Since I began scheduling my meals differently, I'm not having so much trouble with hunger. I have herb tea, miso, and fruit around 8, soup and smoothie at 1ish, a light dinner around 5, and herb tea and fruit in the evening.

My Style...favorite outfit this week straight, mid-calf, grey wool skirt, bead-embellished cranberry T, black cardigan, tights and MJs with hair in the usual long, loose curled style...having fun playing with hair toys...

Thimble News...Aloha dress is cute if a bit brighter than I hoped. After I sewed up the side seams and tried it on, I found I had to take it in several inches. This is so strange...Red Riding Hood is coming along...cut out a denim skirt using my favorite grey wool skirt as a pattern with a kick pleat instead of a slit...have plans for an aloha jumper (little lisette [Liesl Gibson] 2063 view c) with white Oliver+S music class blouse for Sammy...after that...well my mind is moving so fast now that I have a dedicated daily sewing time.

The Herbalist...watched Food Beware: The French Organic Revolution, a documentary on organic food that was quite thought provoking. If it isn't organic, I don't eat it 99% of the time. The Healthy Habits Methylcobalamin (B12) patch is doing wonders for my ability to sleep, concentrate, and more. Pernicious Anemia runs in my family but won't be the death of me. Years ago my physician told me to stop being a veggie and eat meat because of my B12/Iron problem. I followed her advice but never got better. Pernicious Anemia is an autoimmune disease with loss of Intrinsic Factor. Antibodies damage the stomach lining, interrupting the B12 absorption mechanism. PA keeps people from absorbing B12 in the gut no matter how much meat or how many supplements they ingest. However, it doesn't take genetic pernicious anemia to cause a B12 deficiency. First-year medical students are taught this, unfortunately they often forget and miss the obvious. It mimics Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, early Parkinson's disease, neuropathy, bipolar disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, tremors, depression, restless leg, limb pains, infertility, childhood developmental disabilities, sleep disorders, and a plethora of digestive, reproductive, and circulatory symptoms. If you're over forty, you're at an elevated risk for B12 deficiency. Plus, it leads to cancer. If you're over sixty, you have a 40% possibility of having low B12 levels. I tried but didn't continue the shots at $95 a pop. These patches are a God send.

Living Fearlessly and Well...spend time with the one you love...we like washing dishes, dancing in the kitchen, taking walks, talking, sharing dreams, and laughing...notice none of these things requires money--only time.
