Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

fellowship and feasting

Jacob 6 After relating Zenos’s allegory, Jacob prophesied about the gathering of the house of Israel in the latter days Jacob 6:1-2. This means Zenos’s allegory is relevant to the inhabitants of the earth right now. Mercifully, through His graceful atonement and patient mercy the Savior will recover Israel in the last days Jacob 6:4–5.  Jacob emphasizes repentance after testifying that the events in Zenos’s allegory would all come to pass Jacob 6:3–13.)

Those who “have been nourished by the good word of God” are responsible to stick with it,  help other believers, and invite non-believers to come to know Jesus Jacob 6:11–12; Moroni 6:3–4. Fellowship is probably the best way to accomplish this command. Everyone wants to feel loved and needed. When we provide this basic human need, we nourish God's Children and help them get or stay on the straight and narrow path. An invitation to potluck and games, an invitation to church, a bright smile and hello, a quick visit, a letter, or a phone call all can brighten the day of another and help them feel the true love of Christ, charity. "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." 1 John 1:7

Jacob 7:1–23 Sherem led many people away from the truth through deception and flattery Jacob 7:1–7. Today similar methods are used to lead people away from Christ. All around us are lies that the commandments of God are like chains to bind us. In reality the commandments are the only way to happiness. My husband used to ask his youthful Sunday School class if they know anyone in their 50s that do drugs. He asks them to compare how these people look compared to people who don't choose that path. Which ones seem happy? Do the druggies seem free or in bondage?

Sherem was confounded, when he demanded a sign from heaven Jacob 7:8–22. He was struck ill unto death and finally realized that the adversary had tricked him. We can avoid being thus tricked if we continually feast upon the words of Christ Jacob 7:23. Feasting on the words of Christ allows us to know His words. When we know His words, we cannot be deceived by those that twist the words Romans 16:17–18. Jesus' words are declared by his servants ancient and modern. When we know them, we cannot be tossed about by false doctrines  Ephesians 4:11–15.

There is not anything in this world of as great importance to us as obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us search these scriptures. Let us know what the Lord has revealed. Let us put our lives in harmony with his truth. Then we will not be deceived” Joseph Fielding Smith.
