wonderful week

Praying For...Tyson, who shares a birthday with Grandpa this week...that he will be happy, healthy, safe, and love Jesus...that he will be assigned a teacher that inspires a love of learning...that his parents will teach him to be a gentleman in this day of incivility...that he will escape the strife and evils of the world...

Jesus Word...“And I give unto you a commandment that you shall teach one another the doctrine of the kingdom...Of things both in heaven and in the earth, and under the earth; things which have been, things which are, things which must shortly come to pass; things which are at home, things which are abroad; the wars and the perplexities of the nations, and the judgments which are on the land; and a knowledge also of countries and of kingdoms that ye may be prepared in all things when I shall send you again to magnify the calling whereunto I have called you, and the mission with which I have commissioned you...” Doctrine and Covenants 88:77-80. I am convinced that keeping one's mind occupied with secular and spiritual scholarship is the proper use of time even in middle and old age.

Bibliophilia...gave Sammy A Child's Introduction to Art: The World's Greatest Paintings and Sculptures by Heather Alexander for her birthday, since she's a little artist in training. Lego Maniac Tyson got Lego Comic readers. Still enjoying the Life of Fred series with its dry humor and innovative math instruction. More importantly the boy I've been tutoring is eating them up and excelling.

Happiest Event(s)...it was a wonderful week spending time with the fam--science museum, zoo, sushi, and beach...last night a BBQ was well attended here. We are going to miss the good people here very much, although we are pretty worn out. If it weren't for the commute, we would consider staying. This is the most beautiful place I've ever seen or at least it rivals Oahu.
