"...Look unto God with firmness of mind, and pray unto him with exceeding faith, and he will console you in your afflictions, and he will plead your cause, and send down justice upon those who seek your destruction. O all ye that are pure in heart, lift up your heads and receive the pleasing word of God, and feast upon his love; for ye may, if your minds are firm, forever," Jacob 3:1-2.
Years ago one son and I listened to a recorded talk by a famous youth speaker, who talked about this scripture. Since then it comes to mind often in connection to that son. Everyone from time to time has need of repentance, but many strive to be pure. What are their blessings but Jesus' love, strength, healing atonement, and word! I suppose for the greatest sinner these blessings are a reward for turning from their own erroneous ways. Whichever end of the spectrum one currently chooses, there is always a way to move to the end of the pure in heart. Jesus is waiting with his healing, strengthening, atoning grace if we but ask...but we must ask.
