Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

serene grace

I love the song Amazing Grace and often sing it while doing dishes. It sort of puts all my cumbered service into perspective. While I accept the teaching that we must do all in our power to serve the Lord, I know that I sometimes get a bit puffed up or prideful~as if my insignificant efforts are worth more than the next gals...

Even if I work hard each day all the day long, my efforts can never pay my debt to Jesus. This is where grace comes in. Getting discouraged because my efforts always seem to fall short, I turn my back on Him. The following verse from the Book of Mormon hints at my thoughts.

"And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order." Mosiah 4:27

We should serve with diligence, wisdom, and order but without excess zeal in our own abilities. Without order in service, we loose focus or wisdom. That is when we slam the door on Jesus' grace and open the door to Satan's contention, frustration, impatience, and disappointment. It is my prayer that I can remember my human imperfections and not run faster than I have strength and rely on the serene grace of Jesus Christ. After all, that is what the atonement was all about. To remember these principles, we do not put ourselves in a position of waiting until we are drowning but allow the Savior to help and guide us all along the way.

Reading the scriptures and keeping this journal are my delight. I do not keep an online journal to preach to anyone but myself. I like this format, because I can add pictures and correct my writing easier. If you enjoy reading it, I am happy. If you feel offended, please, realize it is not my intention to offend but to teach myself. No negative comments will not be published.
