Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

mind boggling

When we got home from Phoenix Saturday, we discovered our internet didn't work. Since it was too late to fix on Saturday, and we don't shop on Sundays, we waited until Monday to call and get things resolved. It turned out our modem was faulty. So...I'm writing my weekly journal entry today instead of the usual Sunday.

Sunday School Lesson..."This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." 2 Timothy 3:1It's no secret that these are the last days and that they are perilous times. One simply has to look around to see the one challenges of the day. Living in the last days, we can still be happy, overcome trials, and stand firm against temptations. By learning to conquer fear and despair, we can find hope and courage through an understanding of the events to come in the last days. Revelation 5:1–5; 6. John sees through revelation a book with seven seals and observes some of the events of the first six seals, or time periods. He sees that Satan has fought against the righteous in all time periods. Revelation 19:1–9; 20:1–11. John sees that Satan will be bound and Jesus Christ will reign in triumph during the Millennium. Revelation 20:12–22:21. John learns that after the last judgment takes place, the righteous will dwell with God.

Praying for...Tyson and Spencer...families and orphans who struggle to have the basic necessities of life and live with the reality of hunger, fear, cold, and sickness daily...leaders of nations will be touched by the spirit of charity and stop using usurped or illegal power to destroy liberty...

Sound of Music...I love being home so I can play...right now I'm playing and enjoying Christmas carols throughout the day. I whip out my violin or sit down at the piano and play for a minute or two...

Bibliophilia...I'm enjoying getting back into the great books plus re-reading The Road to Serfdom and The Clipper Ship Strategy. I'm beginning to understand the struggle that occurred during the New Deal, which set the stage for accepting Socialism in the United States. At some point there won't be anymore people earning the money to spread around. Beginning The Pledge by Masterson today. Enjoyed Lasagne Gardening for Small Spaces.

The Herbalist...making a huge batch of my PMS/Menopause tincture, which I call Ging-ease. (hehe) It has equal parts Ginger, false unicorn, wild yam, vitex berry, lady's mantle, squaw vine, blessed thistle, red raspberry, St. John's wort, dong quai, chamomile, blue cohosh, uva ursi, eleuthero, cramp bark, sarsaparilla, cayenne, lobelia, licorice, and hawthorn extracted with grain alcohol. It has been a miracle to squelch PMS, menstrual, and menopause symptoms plus relieve adrenal fatigue, Renault's, and heart issues.

Garden Gate...it was wonderful to eat citrus from our own trees last week. Only the tangerines and oranges were ripe enough. Even a couple were still a bit green.

Pantry...on our way through Lost Wages, I bought several pounds of my favorite hard to get 100% buckwheat soba at Whole Foods. Hope to buy a year's supply of South River Miso, which is the most delicious miso I've ever eaten. They have soy and gluten free varieties, which is what I buy. Right now I'm enamored with miso soup made with dulse, red peppers, chili paste, green onions, and shitake mushrooms and eat it twice a day. A born snacker, I find miso soup fills my desire to prepare a snack to sneak in about 2 minutes with only 15 calories. It's mind boggling that something so delicious is so good and good for you

Aging Fearlessly and Well...I might need my body for another 50 years. Although I don't indulge in poor eating habits any more, my inactivity might sentence me to years or decades of chronic disease or just feeling crumby. As long as I remain on earth, I want a healthy, vibrant life, not a using walker or wheelchair or oxygen, in nursing home socially isolated and dependent, coping with incontinence or dementia or or. So...I'm going to get the little spring things to attach to my shoes so I won't be afraid of falling on the ice anymore.

Project Joy...Joseph is our juice man and makes the best carrot juice ever. We got several, beautiful inches of new snow last night. The sun is shining. I found a tiny Norfolk Pine to decorate with red ribbons and silver bells--this was necessary, because we stored our traditional decorations in an outdoor shed--a couple years ago, we were plagued with black widows and sprayed the shed---now our decorations smell like insecticide. Yup--bad choice. My camera was in Phoenix!!!
