This is one of the most encouraging and calming chapters in the Book of Mormon 2 Nephi 32. Once we have entered in the path, we don't have to guess what to do 2 Nephi 32:1–3. Feasting on the words of Christ, is such a visual instruction. I think of Thanksgiving, when my Grandma Downen was still alive. She was the world's best cook. We ate pie and delicious, flaky rolls and cranberries and mashed potatoes light as a cloud. I can't imagine anyone sitting down to her table and only eating a cherry tomato before hurrying away to watch TV. We feasted on her food and on the love she had for her family. But this delight wasn't reserved for holidays. Her obvious love for her family that came out in her homemaking was something to savor, something to feast upon. Feasting upon the words of Christ is the instruction we have for receiving instruction, which can be found in the words of ancient and modern prophets.
Elder Neal A. Maxwell said: “We need to feast upon the words of Christ in the scriptures and as these words come to us from living prophets. Just nibbling occasionally will not do 2 Nephi 31:20 and 32:3. Feasting means partaking with relish and delight and savoring—not gorging episodically in heedless hunger, but partaking gratefully, dining with delight, at a sumptuous spread carefully and lovingly prepared … over the centuries” (Wherefore Ye Must Press Forward [1977], 28).
Heavenly Father did not send us here to wander aimlessly and fail. He carefully and lovingly prepared the Word so we might know all things what we should do. Since I began feasting, my paths have been directed in large and small ways. I become lost without my scriptures.
Also, the Holy Ghost teaches and encourages us to pray 2 Nephi 32:8. When we pray for guidance, Heavenly Father can help us through the Holy Ghost. The things we do will benefit our families and our lives much more if we understand the Lord's will concerning our direction 2 Nephi 32:9. When I have followed this counsel, I have been very happy; the outcome has been good. When I don't, I make the wrong choice and experience dire, heart braking, consequences.
