This weekend was a spiritual feast. Twice a year, during the first weekend of April and October, LDS people all over the world stop to listen to prophets, apostles, and other chosen speakers at General Conference. In all we are taught for 10 hours by 30ish speakers and beautiful choir music.
I listen and am fed.
Once again I'll listen to, study, and read the talks again and again over the next six months, focusing on one per week. When we listen to a prophet's voice, we hear the words of God. Among the many, many points presented, the few below were given in Thomas Spencer Monson's final words on Sunday Afternoon.
1. Pray always.
2. Fill homes with love, courtesy, and with the spirit of the Lord
3. Settle disagreements with family members NOW-no disputations among you-spirit of contention is of devil-do away with contention.
4. Serve with might, mind, and strength.
5. Do God's will.
6. "May you ponder the truths you have heard, and may they help you to become even better than you were, when conference began two days ago...[they provide] meaning and purpose and hope to our lives, and will see us through troubled times. Heavenly Father is mindful of the troubles we face. He loves each of us and desires to bless us and to help us."
