shrubbery

Who remembers the movie Author, Author? I love the scene where the cop opens the fridge and the scene where the son says his father makes them eat shrubbery. My fridge looks even more green that. Hilarious!

Last night I did a little experiment. Everyone who knows me and my troubles says things like. 'Won't it be nice, when you (meaning me, Ginger) can eat solid, cooked food again. Or you'll be so happy when you can eat something other than fruit and vegetables.' This sort of got my cravings going. Last night we went for Mexican. I didn't go crazy. I just ate some basic beans, tortillas, and salsa. I won't lie; it was delicious.

But....I was up all night; My neck is all swollen up; I'm short of breath and coughing; My stomach aches like crazy. It's just not worth it. I love my juices, smoothies, salads, cultured veggies, and fruity desserts. No, it's not like my old food, but I am growing to like it even better. Maybe it's because it doesn't make me ill. More likely I like it's because I feel satisfied with the colors, textures, and flavors.

So...tonight I'll make angle hair zucchini with epic marinara, a huge romaine, chard, red pepper, and mango salad, and apple cinnamon date 'cake'. And the rest of the day will have me nibbling the shrubbery in the fridge.
