"We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God," Article of Faith 9.
Reveal means to show. Heavenly Father reveals important things to prophets on earth. Some of the things He reveals are His laws designed to make us happy and return to Him again. God can reveal things that happened in the past, such as how He showed Moses the creation and taught him the ten commandments. Prophets write down these revelations, which become scripture. Today's prophet on earth is Thomas S. Monson. God can reveal things to him that happen currently or will happen soon, as well as ideas to help us overcome current adversities. When Joseph Smith was the prophet on earth, Heavenly Father revealed that the saints would travel west.
The truth that God still cares about His children on earth and provides a prophet to guide us is very comforting to me. These last days are and will continue to be challenging at best. By following God's prophets, ancient and modern, I can have a happier more joyful life. The Word brings everything into perspective and makes me feel wrapped in the arms of love.
