we believe...continued

"We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth," Article of Faith 6 Anciently, prophets and apostles led the church and taught about God, the Eternal Father, and His son, Jesus Christ. Organized according to the pattern Jesus set forth in His day, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is led and taught by prophets and apostles. The president of the church is a prophet is the only person who receives revelation for the entire church; he leads and teaches the people according to the will of God, the Eternal Father. Special witnesses of Jesus Christ, apostles help the prophet by also teaching and leading. Bishops are pastors that lead local congregations. Patriarchs are evangelists called to give personal blessings by inspiration to members of the church. Teachers from nursery leaders to Relief Society counselors to missionaries to Sunday School instructors learn and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and commandments found in scripture. This weekend I heard from one of my grandchildren, who is working very hard at on the Articles of Faith Challenge. Although it isn't an easy thing, I know she will be pleased with her efforts and knowledge at the end of this memorizing road. To have such a knowledge of Jesus' gospel at such a tender age will help her in so many ways. Plus, memorizing makes you smarter; her school work will be easier.
