throwing out worldly influences

Jesus the Christ Chapter 12...This study is good for me. I feel closer to Jesus, which has been helpful during these last action packed weeks.

The body a temple...Jesus knew from the beginning that He would be killed and resurrected. When the priestly officials and rulers couldn't see past the end of their collective noses, Jesus let them remain in ignorance. When He said, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up," He spoke of His body. We can learn much from this.

Like Jesus, every person who experiences death will receive the glorious gift of resurrection. We should cleanse our temples as Jesus did the physical temple in Jerusalem, throwing out worldly influences.

Born again..."Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." Jesus showed us the way. We must be baptized. More importantly, we must experience that change of heart that accompanies conversion. Baptism is the symbol of obedience, the outward sign that we intend to follow Jesus. However, it is not enough. As true followers, we promise to stand as His witness, to build up His kingdom, to adopt His character, to study His word, to pray in His name, and to live His commandments to the best of our ability. When we fall short of these ideals, we promise to accept His atoning sacrifice and allow His grace and mercy to make us whole again.
