Acts 6:7-1; 7:1-60
Like Jesus, Stephen, a newly called helper of the Twelve Apostles, was arrested of blasphemy and brought before the Jewish council.
During the trial, Stephen recounted the mighty deeds of the Lord in Israel’s history and emphasized Israel’s frequent forgetfulness and disobedience to God. When he compared his listeners and the earlier disobedient Israelites, they became as wild animals desiring his blood. After Stephen finished speaking, he saw a vision with Jesus sitting on the right hand of God. His accusers refused to listened, became even more angry, and stoned Stephen in the street. Stephen’s last words, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit"and "Lord, lay not this sin to their charge" show he was a true disciple of Christ, full of charitable, Christ-like love for all God's children.
The question raised from this study is how can I be more loving and more forgiving of others? How can I become a master scriptorian so that I might understand how everything links together and teach with the scriptures?
